Those people who don't call me Jarel call me John (or at least, the polite ones do). I'm not sure which name gets used most often, which is a slightly scary thought. I'm about 6'3" tall, with curly brownish/grey hair and blue eyes.

I've been happily married to Margaret since September 2000, although we were together for about four and a half years before that, and best friends for a year before that. She makes the world a nice place to be in :)

Originally I'm from the north of England, but after spending a few years studying in Cambridge, I moved to Ipswich to work full-time in telecoms R&D. Mostly, I do unixy/internet "stuff" these days.

I listen to music for more of the day than I'm awake. Recent listening:

The rest of my spare time is filled with computer/internet geekery (I help run two talkers, Snowplains and Republic), karate, brewing coffee, and reading. I also periodically torment random musical instruments for short periods of time before giving up on them again ;)
